General Events

Families, whanau and supporters of The Angelman Network enjoy getting together socially, and to participate in public events across the country. We do this to connect, fundraise, network, and build community support. As local communities learn more about Angelman syndrome, so stronger support networks are built around our families. We encourage and participate in the following types of events:

Social Family Gatherings

The Angelman Network encourages all families & whanau to arrange or attend social meet-ups at family-friendly venues around the country. Nothing beats talking to other families, sharing stories, and meeting their loved one with Angelman syndrome. Friendships made at these social gatherings can last a lifetime and families can stay connected via our Facebook support groups.

If you would like to organise a gathering in your area, please
contact us. We can help to get the word out by advertising your event in our Newsletter and/or via our Social Media.

Fundraisers

Many families and friends have volunteered their time to raise funds for The Angelman Network in a variety of ways. There have been Sausage sizzles, Christmas Wrap Collections, a workplace Fundraiser Auction, Raffles, Movie nights, Walkathons, a Colouring-in Competition, and even a MotorCross Day!! We are so grateful to all these families for supporting the cause. Fundraisers not only raise funds, they also raise awareness for Angelman syndrome. They connect people from their own communities, strengthening the Circles of Support around our families.

Fitness teams such as the Action Angel team and For The Angels team, entered local Fun Runs and competed at sporting events around the country, wearing white angel-wings. As well as getting sponsors to raise funds, local newspapers ran stories on these events, which helps raise awareness for Angelman syndrome across the country.

Anyone can support our cause and pop an instant donation on our  Givealittle site
